Serious/Cirrus
By Florence Lee
don’t rob me of my blue skies —
of white and blue, of white and blue and grey
Let my eyes take in
the fluffy cotton candy,
the glorious mackerels
dancing
across the endless blue canvas,
let my ideas soar.
Let me.
See the wispy cirrus —
root for her as she
chases the well-formed stratocumulus,
wistful, wondering if
she’s enough, if
she carries enough substance.
Let her be wispy, let her be wistful,
give her the space
on this infinite palette to
be herself —
to speak her truth,
to simply exist.
Let her.
And don’t take her blue skies away from her.
