Point Them The Right Way

What was the Director-General of Education’s (DGE) call in her most recent connection with us? Oh yes! Teach values, not just skills.

Teach the young ones enduring values that will see them through life. A life which would then go on to touch other lives positively. Point them in the right direction. Hence, the signs that I see all around, directing the masses to where they are supposed to be, captured my attention immediately.

Interestingly, as I made my way to the venue, I was stopped by a visitor asking for directions. All I did was to point her to the directional signs and an appreciative nod was all I needed to know that I had helped her find her way.

My students need me to direct them. Although they may not always appreciate my role (at least not for now), I know I would have made a difference in their lives.

I need to remind myself to press on, stay the course, stay true to the call — the call to impart values, my life touching their lives.
